Job Title: Material Control Clerk/Analyst Intern

Reports To: Preventative Maintenance Manufacturing Manager

FLSA Status: Non- Exempt

Status: Intern- Summer Full-Time

Department: OM

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for managing the lifecycle of inventory, ensuring accurate tracking, storage, and movement of materials to support uninterrupted production. They reconcile inventory records, coordinate with suppliers, and analyze usage to optimize stock levels and prevent shortages. Key roles include receiving, auditing (cycle counts), and reporting.

Primary Responsibilities (includes but is not limited to)

Key Responsibilities:

 

Inventory Control & Clerical Functions

  • Receive, log, and issue materials, supplies, and equipment in accordance with company procedures
  • Maintain accurate inventory records in ERP or inventory management systems
  • Perform routine cycle counts and assist with physical inventory
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, variances, and shortages
  • Prepare and process material requests, transfers, and returns
  • File and maintain material documentation, packing slips, and receiving records
  • Coordinate with warehouse, purchasing, and operations teams regarding material needs

 

Analytical & Reporting Functions

  • Analyze inventory levels to identify trends, shortages, excess stock, and slow-moving items
  • Monitor min/max levels, reorder points, and usage patterns
  • Generate inventory, consumption, and variance reports for management review
  • Assist in forecasting material requirements based on historical data and operational demand
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory accuracy and cost reduction

 

Cross-Functional Support

  • Work with Purchasing to support timely ordering and vendor coordination
  • Communicate with Operations and Maintenance teams to prioritize material availability
  • Ensure materials are stored, labeled, and handled safely and correctly
  • Support audits and compliance checks as required

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Working toward bachelor’s degree in business or data analytics
  • Experience in ERP systems and inventory
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organized, professional, and culturally aware.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Computer proficiency with internet access and Microsoft Office.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in business or logistics
  • Experience working within Native American territories or Tribal communities.

  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and climb
  • Occasionally lift or move up to 35 lbs. of promotional materials and product samples
