    POSITION:           Business Marketing and Entrepreneurship Teacher

    LOCATION:         Westover High School and Monroe High School

    JOB SUMMARY:
    The Dougherty County School System is seeking a Business Marketing and Entrepreneurship Teacher to join our roster of experienced, motivated, and effective teaching professionals. The teacher will be responsible for preparing and implementing engaging lessons that address the academic needs and rigor of all students, while providing a positive learning environment that encourages lifelong learners.The Business Education Teacher will engage students in the creation and management of a small business through the development of critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovation. Using a project-based approach the instructor will integrate accounting, finance, marketing, business management, the legal and economic environment in this pathway.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Hold a bachelor's degree or a PSC-determined equivalent;
    2. Hold or be eligible for a valid certification in Business Education;
    3. Have at least two (2) years of work experience in the field;
    4. Proficiency in and knowledge of subject area content appropriate to technical education assignment;
    5. Knowledge of the design and implementation of lesson plans for students;
    6. Experience in working with sensitive information regarding students; able to perform duties maintaining confidentiality along with professional demeanor when interacting with students;
    7. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate.

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

    1. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and organizational skills;
    2. Ability to provide remediation appropriate with program standards to impact student learning, progress, and development;
    3. Ability to use the latest technology in educational and career-related technology disciplines including keyboarding and data entry.

     
    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Be present, organized, and enthusiastically committed to the success of all assigned students for the school calendar;
    2. Develops detailed instructional plans and outlines for instructing the pupils and subject matter assigned;
    3. Instructs designated classes in accordance with formulated plans and outlines, modified as necessary to achieve the learning objectives; all within the policies of the school system;
    4. Implements curriculum standard using necessary and appropriate instructional methods and materials, which are suited to the well-being of students and to the nature of the learning activities, program, and/or curriculum involved;
    5. Establishes and implements classroom policies and procedures governing student behavior and conduct; provides guidance, counseling, and discipline to encourage students to meet standards of achievement and conduct. Confers with students, parents and/or guardians, and other staff as appropriate to provide guidance and encourage student achievement;
    6. Evaluates and records student progress; prepares reports for parents and/or guardians;
    7. Attends and/or participates in all required staff meetings; performs other student-focused responsibilities assigned by the building Principal and/or District; supports activities deemed necessary by the District and/or building Principal in order to accomplish the objectives of the position for professional development to further student achievement;
    8. Participates in activities to enhance professional skills;
    9. Completes all records and reports on time with accuracy;
    10. Performs other tasks as assigned by the Principal/Supervisor.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    1. Ability to lift and carry teaching materials, books, or small classroom equipment (typically up to 25 lbs);
    2. Ability to prepare and manipulate learning materials;
    3. Ability to stand and actively move around the classroom for extended periods;
    4. Ability to move between classrooms, hallways, and other school areas as needed;
    5. Ability to respond quickly in case of emergencies, such as evacuating students or assisting during drills;
    6. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

     
    REPORTS TO: Principal 

    SALARY RANGE: 10 Month Contract. Competitive salary and excellent benefits package, in accordance with the DCSS Compensation Guide
