The Plant Loader Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the loader to manage aggregate materials and support the daily production needs of the concrete batching plant. This role plays a critical part in ensuring a consistent and uninterrupted supply of raw materials (including sand, gravel, and crushed stone) to the batching plant, directly supporting the plant's ability to meet production schedules and customer delivery commitments.

The operator will work as part of a collaborative plant team alongside batch plant operators, mixer truck drivers, and supervisors to maintain smooth plant operations. The role demands a strong commitment to safety, as the work environment involves heavy machinery, high noise levels, silica dust exposure, and frequent interaction with commercial vehicle traffic within the plant yard.

This is a temporary/seasonal position spanning the summer months.

  • Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment
  • Operate loader controls to lower and tilt bucket and drive forward to force bucket into bulk material, moving the lever to raise and tilt bucket when filled
  • Safely and efficiently load trucks with gravel and other aggregates
  • Ensure the batch plant maintains a steady supply of aggregates to batch concrete
  • Perform routine maintenance such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning
  • General housekeeping and yard work
  • Attend meetings and wear PPE while on site, etc.
  • Participate in Company Safety program and initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Valid drivers license and clean drivers abstract
  • General construction experience
  • At least 1 years’ prior experience operating a Loader
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis
  • CSTS Certification (Preferred)
  • WHIMIS training (Preferred)

Hours of Work

  • Monday through Friday, and every second Saturday.
  • 40-50 hours/week
  • Overtime, weekends, and night shifts may be required, especially during the busy summer months.

Work Environment:

The job takes place primarily outdoors with exposure to the elements. The workspace typically includes large aggregate stockpiles (sand, gravel, crushed stone), storage silos, conveyor systems, and batching equipment. Dust, noise, and varying weather conditions are constant factors.

Applicants will be required to undergo a pre-employment drug and alcohol test as part of the hiring process.
