JOB SUMMARY


 


QuEST (Quality Enrichment and Transformation Program) Tutors will provide academic support in alignment with the All-in Virginia, high-dosage tutoring initiative. These positions are temporary and grant funded and will be assigned to specific schools within the division. Work schedules will vary depending on the unique needs of each school.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES



The primary duties wil be to provide high intensity tutoring to students in grades 3-5 who are identified as "at risk" or "not proficient" based on statewide assessment results.


 


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required)



Preferred candidates will either hold or be eligible to hold a current teaching license in the State of Virginia. Non-licensed tutors are required to complete the ALL In Tutoring online training, available on the Virginia Department of Education ALL In Tutoring website for school divisions. Other qualifications include:



  • Ability to establish positive relationships with students and understand their learning needs in math and reading.

  • Integration of progress monitoring into tutoring sessions to track student learning.

  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and computation skills.

  • Effective oral and written communication abilities.

  • Personal qualities necessary for effective interaction with students, teachers, and parents.

  • Comfort with navigating online platforms.

  • Willingness to accommodate a flexible work schedule.

  • Dependability and punctuality are essential.

  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Desire to put forth best effort in all assigned duties. Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the public.


 


Pay rates vary based on Education Level. Rates for the 2023-24 School Year:



  • High School Student: $10.40/hour

  • College Student/Adult: $13.00/hour

  • Degreed: $16.00/hour

  • License Eligible Teacher: $30/hour on school days

  • License Eligible Teacher: $40.00/hour on weekend days
