Job Description

Under direct supervision, this position is responsible for ensuring the quality of processes and product outputs which may include defining and specifying activities, processes, and standards to fulfill the quality requirements for a service or manufactured material, component, or product; auditing, monitoring, and determining the quality of processes, outputs or materials, either against defined internal or regulatory standards; product integrity testing to ensure orders are in compliance with quality requirements; reporting on process deviations and defects; and assisting in the development and maintenance of qualified supplier relationships. Applies detailed knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and some work experience.



This position is based in New Albany, IN, and reports directly to the Operations Director.



Major Accountability:




  • Responsible for daily tactical issues related to internal and external quality processes/products in the functional area.

  • Supports NPI Quality Roadmap and product transition to mfg. site.

  • Conducts process improvement efforts as an individual to complete initiatives.

  • Supports related operations to improve and sustain KPIs.

  • Conducts onsite supplier assessments and process audits to help retain existing suppliers and drive new supplier selection.

  • Maintains Supplier scorecard and supplier quality manual

  • Facilitates and approves Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions, as required.

  • Facilitate corrective action (SCARS) and ensure root cause identification, solution implementation, when warranted.



Key Tasks and Responsibilities:




  • Reviews metrical performance of manufacturing system and/or related processes to prioritize issues.

  • Designs, implements, validates, and reports on systems/processes that improve plan operations.

  • Familiar with basic ISO implementation, Six Sigma, and other statistical and quality tools, Kaizen, SPC, and Lean Mfg concepts.

  • Knowledgeable and proficient in the use of statistical software for process and product analysis.

  • Ability to read prints, specifications, and schematics.

  • Participates as Quality representatives for chartered teams.

  • Assists with customer and supplier relations, expectations, and needs.

  • Oversees supplier quality planning process to ensure conformance to customer specific requirements.
