Job Description

SUMMARY: The Material Handler performs duties to supply the production lines with materials and transfer finished goods to warehouse.    

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.   

• Review production schedule to determine number of supply pallets needed for day’s production.  

• Deliver empty containers, labels and caps to line.   

• Remove finished goods and transfer to warehouse placing pallets in assigned storage space or onto  

        freight truck.  

• Log completed and transferred pallets.  

• Assist in unloading received goods, as needed.  

• Follow safety rules and keep work area in a clean and orderly condition.  

• Load containers and caps into hoppers.  

• Clear machinery jams and set up over turned containers on line.  

• Open bundles and flip cases to be dumped.  

• Conduct line changeover on machine equipment.  

• Complete production reports indicating materials used.  

• Utilize computer programs to report pallet tags.   

• Clean and sanitize work area as needed.  

• Ability to fill in on production lines, as needed.  

• Responsible for food product quality and safety.  

 

EDUCATION 

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent, required.  

 

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS  

• Forklift certification, required.  

• Ability to work in extreme temperatures, working at heights and exposure to dust, gases, fumes and   

        chemicals. 

 • Continuous mental and visual attention is required to perform duties, involving repetitive or diversified  

        work requiring constant alertness or activity.  

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with assistance, as needed. 

 • Ability to hand stack, as needed.
