Job Title: Summer Bus Driver
Reports To: Transportation Director
Work Schedule: Summer session schedule as assigned

Position Summary

The Summer Bus Driver is responsible for safely transporting students and/or staff to and from summer school programs, extracurricular activities, and other district-sponsored events. The driver ensures the safety of all passengers while maintaining compliance with school corporation policies, transportation procedures, and state and federal regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  Safely operate a school bus on assigned routes for summer school programs and district activities.

  Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the bus is in safe operating condition.

  
  


• 
  

  Follow established bus routes and schedules while maintaining safe and efficient driving practices.

  
  


• 
  

  Ensure the safety and orderly conduct of students while boarding, riding, and exiting the bus.

  
  


• 
  

  Enforce district bus rules and report disciplinary concerns to appropriate school personnel.

  
  


• 
  

  Maintain accurate records including route logs, mileage, and required transportation documentation.

  
  


• 
  

  Report accidents, incidents, mechanical issues, or safety concerns immediately to the Transportation Department.

  
  


• 
  

  Maintain a clean and orderly bus interior.

  
  


• 
  

  Comply with all state transportation regulations, district policies, and safety procedures.

  
  


• 
  

  Communicate effectively with students, staff, and transportation supervisors.
