The Department of Health and Welfare is hiring a Project Coordinator in our Public Health division. The ideal candidate would drive meaningful impact by monitoring system performance and translating complex data into actionable insights that improve programs and services for Idaho residents, lead the development of modern data systems and dashboards (e.g., WITS, ICANS) that empower state agencies to make informed, data-driven decisions, partner across bureaus to design smart, efficient processes that support critical functions such as contracting, compliance, and federal and state reporting, shape strategy by delivering high-quality reports and insights that guide leadership decisions and improve operational performance statewide, and champion data integrity and accountability by implementing strong quality controls, policies, and best practices.
This position is open to Lewiston, Coeur d'Alene, Moscow, Idaho Falls, Boise, Rexburg, Caldwell, Pocatello, Blackfoot, and Twin Falls.
This position may be eligible for telework after successful completion of probation and necessary training. Approval to telecommute is not guaranteed and subject to termination at any time.

- Monitor system performance by gathering relevant data from automation and producing statistical reports to document and measure program and contract performance toward goals and outcomes.
- Build, develop and maintain data models, reporting systems, data automation systems (WITS, ICANS, etc.) dashboards and performance metrics support that support key operational decisions across all Bureaus.
- Design and build technical processes to address needs of Bureaus, including contracting, federal and state reporting, etc.
- Oversee the design and delivery of reports and insights that analyze key operations and performance metrics.
- Ensure accuracy of data and deliverables of reporting employees with comprehensive policies and processes.
- Manage and optimize processes for data intake, validation, mining and engineering as well as modeling, visualization and communication deliverables.
- Examine, interpret, and report results of analytical initiatives to stakeholders in leadership, partnering with other units/Bureaus as needed.
- Develop and implement quality controls and departmental standards to ensure quality standards, organizational expectations, and regulatory requirements.
- Anticipate future demands of initiatives related to people, technology, budget and business within DBH and designs/implements solutions to meet these needs.
- Workgroup facilitation and planning and execution of division-wide initiatives.
You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position. - Experience planning and implementing projects. Typically gained by at least one year of experience managing projects. Experience must have included being responsible for the development (needs assessment, planning and budgeting) of the projects as well as being responsible for assessing the projects toward goals and project outcomes.
- Experience developing, promoting and gaining project support. Typically gained by at least one year of experience developing, identifying, recruiting and coordinating resource support to meet identified needs or problems. Promotional campaigns or similar support mechanisms are examples. Simple fundraising efforts such as for a baseball league or team, or organizing sales events such as rummage or garage sales would not qualify.
- Experience interpreting and explaining specialized or complex material into information usable by the public. Typically gained by at least one year of experience involving the interpretation of specialized or complex information such as laws, policies, procedures, rules, etc., where the information was analyzed and communicated into information that was usable by the public or the project team in various formats (oral, written, graphic, WEB based, etc.)
- Functional knowledge of principles and practices of statistical analysis, business intelligence, and operational metrics and drivers, and research techniques, methods, and procedures. Gained by at least three years of professional experience analyzing and evaluating data.
- Experience assessing program outcomes. Gained by one year of experience evaluating outcomes and using the results to make changes and improvements to the program.
- Experience analyzing the capabilities and operation of an automated system including hardware and software to modify systems design. Gained by at least three years of experience using or developing an automated system.
