Join The Arc of Monroe for a new, 8-week paid internship program deigned to prepare students for a fulfilling career in human services! Work directly with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) to provide person centered support; promoting confidentiality, privacy, human dignity, uniqueness, and physical and emotional well-being while supporting the person to lead a self-directed life. An ArcNext intern will support people to develop and maintain relationships, advocate for justice, fairness and equity and full community participation. An intern will show respect, integrity and responsibility for the people they support, other staff members and the community they work in.
Program Features:
- Weekly professional development session with access to a variety of industry leaders
- Learning about the variety of services The Arc of Monroe provides through shadowing experiences each week
- Join a cohort of interns providing networking opportunities pre-graduation
- Short-term projects to support the delivery of employment services to people with disabilities
Internship Functions & Responsibilities:
Housed within our Job Path Employment Services program, interns will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities participating in our Supported Employment Program.
Key Functions:
- Promote inclusion & opportunity for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the workforce
- Facilitate data collection, management, and reporting
- Learn coaching techniques and practices to best support people within the workforce
- Model work-readiness skills, self-advocacy
- Plan and facilitate inclusion-focused event
- End of program presentation to Executive Leadership team & community members highlighting value-driven work & event
