We are looking for someone with deep hands‑on experience in data engineering and platform design, to join in the role of a Senior Data Solution Designer or Mid Data Solution Designer. You will work across teams and stakeholder groups, ensuring clarity and alignment.
What will you be doing?
Shaping the architecture and design of enterprise‑scale data platforms for Aviva UK.
Enabling delivery of a Single View of Customer and next‑generation data capabilities.
Making strategic design decisions for data platforms.
Developing both high‑level and detailed solution designs.
Guiding and supporting engineering teams through implementation.
Ensuring data platforms are scalable, secure, and compliant with enterprise architectural standards.
Translating business needs into robust, fit‑for‑purpose data platform designs.
Supporting Proof of Concepts (PoCs) to validate technical approaches.
Producing data models and detailed data mapping specifications.
Overseeing transition from design to engineering delivery.
Collaborating closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Solution Architects, and Data Engineering Technical Leads.
What we’re looking for?
Technical skills:
At least 2 years of experience in a relevant role for the Mid position, 5+ for the Senior role.
Strong expertise designing solutions in Snowflake using modern features (Dynamic Tables, Snowpipe Streaming, Cortex AI).
Ability to design and implement reusable frameworks, user defined functions and components using Snowpark or SQL.
Solid background in data modelling, data quality, orchestration (Airflow) and Python‑based workflows.
Experience with cloud‑native architectures, serverless patterns and automation.
Understanding of performance optimisation, monitoring and reducing platform cost (credit consumption).
Familiarity with Software Development Life Cycle and Agile methodologies.
Experience with Customer Data Platforms, Master Data Management and real‑time data pipelines is beneficial.
Soft skills:
Explaining complex design decisions in a way business and technical teams can understand.
Influencing Solution Architects, Engineers and Change teams.
Documenting designs clearly and ensure shared understanding across delivery squads.
Ability to challenge assumptions respectfully and promote the best architectural outcomes.
Setting design standards and best practices; reduce technical debt and increase automation.
Mentoring designers/engineers; provide oversight to partner deliverables (e.g., TCS).
Promoting a security‑first culture throughout the platform lifecycle.
