Job Duties:
- Monitor pacemaker-dependent and cardiac patients during MRI scans to ensure safety and compliance with established protocols.
- Analyze and interpret EKG tracings to detect arrhythmias or abnormal cardiac activity.
- Monitor vital signs and patient condition, responding to any adverse reactions or emergencies appropriately.
- Start IVs, administer medications as ordered, and manage contrast reactions in accordance with clinical protocols.
- Assist in patient check-in, exam review, preparation for procedures, and patient education.
- Collaborate with technologists, radiologists, and other clinical staff to coordinate seamless patient care.
- Document all findings, assessments, and interventions accurately within the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA and all organizational policies related to patient confidentiality and safety.
- Demonstrate critical thinking, adaptability, and sound clinical judgment in a fast-paced outpatient environment.
- Support quality assurance initiatives and participate in continuous improvement activities.
Education and Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment
- Current BLS
- Additional training or certification in cardiac monitoring, radiology nursing, or IV therapy is highly desirable.
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in an acute care, radiology, or outpatient setting.
- Experience with EKG monitoring and IV therapy required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting EKGs and other cardiac monitoring equipment.
- Strong knowledge of MRI safety protocols, particularly regarding patients with implanted cardiac devices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients and staff.
- Strong computer and EMR documentation skills.
- Ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress or emergency situations.
- Demonstrates strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and teamwork.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Frequent standing, walking, and moving between patient care areas.
- Ability to lift, position, and assist patients, including those with limited mobility (up to 40 lbs with assistance as needed).
- Ability to bend, reach, and twist frequently throughout the workday.
