Position: AN/BYG-1 T&E Systems Engineer


Nature of Role: MIKEL is currently seeking an experienced AN/BYG-1 T&E Systems Engineer to be part of our dynamic, high-exposure test team. The T&E Systems Engineer will provide technical support for the AN/BYG-1 Combat Control System (CCS) and its associated subsystems. This role is crucial for supporting technical evaluation efforts related to BYG-1 CCS testing, platform builds for the submarine fleet, and high-visibility development builds for cutting-edge systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in System Engineering support, a deep understanding of the AN/BYG-1 combat system, and expertise in Linux environments. You will work with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure program readiness and support various teams in a dynamic and rapidly expanding environment. This position offers unique exposure to multiple software and hardware baselines, from legacy systems to state-of-the-art Submarine Combat Control platforms.


Responsibilities:


include but are not limited to:

  • Support T&E efforts and technical evaluation efforts for AN/BYG-1 CCS testing.
  • Participate in all phases of the systems engineering and T&E lifecycle, including Test Readiness Review (TRR), System Design Certification Testing (SDCT), and Design Readiness Review (DRR).
  • Develop and execute test procedures and scenarios for Development Testing (DT) and Engineering Measurements Testing (EMT).
  • Perform test conduct, execution, analysis, and PTR (Problem Trouble Report) reporting.
  • Build out, maintain, and troubleshoot our AN/BYG-1 Combat Control System in a Linux-based environment.
  • Provide SME-level knowledge and support for assigned capability items or areas.
  • Liaise with contractor and government test personnel to coordinate and resolve T&E issues and events.
  • Review and update test tools, including the generation of test checklists and scenarios.
  • Support various working groups, including the Integration and Test Working Group and Test Procedure Review Board.


Preferred Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Four (4) years of experience in developmental or operational T&E of tactical US Naval vessels, weapons, software, or systems.
  • Strong background and hands-on experience with Linux operating systems.
  • Familiarity with AN/BYG-1 and all associated subsystems.
  • Proven ability to successfully and efficiently monitor systems in a test environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Department of Defense Secret security clearance or higher is required at the time of hire.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
