    BRCOT seeks a knowledgeable and industry-experienced Auto Body Instructor to teach high school students the skills necessary for careers in collision repair and automotive refinishing. The instructor will provide hands-on and classroom instruction aligned with industry standards while preparing students for postsecondary education, apprenticeships, and entry-level employment in the automotive repair field.

    This position involves teaching technical skills, assessing student learning, maintaining student records, and communicating regularly with families and school staff to support student success.

     Responsibilities

    • Plan and deliver engaging instruction in auto body repair, collision repair, refinishing, and related automotive technologies.
    • Provide hands-on laboratory instruction in a safe and structured shop environment.
    • Develop lesson plans aligned with state CTE standards and industry expectations.
    • Evaluate student performance through assignments, projects, shop performance, and assessments.
    • Maintain accurate student records, grades, and progress reports.
    • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and expectations.
    • Maintain a safe and organized shop environment, ensuring proper use of tools and equipment.
    • Teach and reinforce workplace safety, professionalism, and employability skills.
    • Support students in preparing for industry certifications, internships, and employment opportunities.
    • Collaborate with school staff, administrators, and industry partners to support program development.
    • Participate in required school meetings, professional development, and program advisory activities.

    Qualifications

    • Significant industry experience in auto body/collision repair.
    • Ability to teach automotive repair techniques including structural repair, refinishing, dent repair, and estimating.
    • Strong communication and organizational skills.
    • Ability to work effectively with high school students in a hands-on learning environment.
    • Willingness to obtain or hold appropriate state CTE teaching certification.  Certification assistance and professional development are provided.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Prior teaching, training, or mentoring experience.
    • ASE or other relevant industry certifications.
    • Experience with modern automotive repair technologies and equipment.

    Certification/License:
    Criminal History Record Check (CHRC), which includes Fingerprints on file with the Maine Department of Education
