    Who We Are:
    The Springfield City School District, home to The John Legend Theatre, is seeking a Assistant Principal at Fulton Elementary School for the 2026-2027 school year.  We are a nationally ranked Division I District serving approximately 7,500 Pre-K through grade 12 students, in a vibrant learning community of 17 state of the art buildings in west-central Ohio.  The Springfield City School District values the racial, ethnic and socioeconomic diversity of our student body, faculty and staff.  Our academic and extracurricular aim is to ensure social and emotional learning growth for students with a wealth of opportunity, including a 1:1 initiative and the YouMedia Center, which is a digital learning lab offering students activities such as 3-D printing, graphic design, and videography.  We are Wildcats! 

    As an  Assistant Principal, you are required to:

    • Master's degree or higher from an accredited college or university
    • Major concentration in Educational Administration and Supervision from an accredited college or university preferred
    • Valid Principal licensure issued by the Ohio Department of Education
    • A minimum of two years related experience preferred
    • Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction
    • Knowledge of relevant technologies and systems, and an ability to learn and utilize educational platforms
    • Knowledge of appropriate safety measures, precautions and procedures
    • Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and multi-task
    • Must be comfortable handling diverse situations simultaneously


    As an  Assistant Principal, you will:

    • Leads the school's commitment to social emotional learning (SEL)
    • Makes recommendations to the Principal regarding student assignment, retention and promotion
    • Monitors multiple student data sources to develop instructional and intervention decisions to maximize student achievement
    • Interviews and trains staff and faculty in coordination with Principal
    • Partners with Principal to make effective hiring decisions
    • Completes all required monthly, quarterly, and annual training plans
    • Attends TBTs to provide support with analyzing immediate and long-term data related to student academic and behavioral performance
    • Communicates and interprets building policies, procedures and regulations
    • Assists the Principal in developing and evaluating the annual school plan and programs, assuring overall coordination with District goals
    • Stays abreast of K-12 standards and trends
    • Conducts instructional supervision and evaluation including classroom and teaching observations for assigned areas
    • Conducts classroom walkthroughs
    • Facilitates OTES evaluations for assigned areas and provides instructional supervision
    • Develops and supervises staff by setting goals, providing regular feedback, documenting performance and conducting annual appraisals in conjunction with the building Principal
    • Coordinates services as delegated by the Building Principal in the areas of testing coordination, performance data management, parent & family outreach, student discipline and behavior, and student academic support
    • Promotes an effective learning environment reflective of the ODE standards and Board expectations
    • Assists in the Progressive Discipline process for staff
    • Enforces Time & Attendance policy for all staff
    • Assists with and/or executes teacher improvement plans
    • Makes presentations to parents and the community as needed regarding school related issues such as achievement tests, course development, safety, school events, etc.
    • Works and provides coaching for faculty and students to reinforce a student discipline management system driven by the principles of PBISPartners with District Safety Committee//Security /Law Enforcement/ Ohio Department of Job and Family Services when/as needed
    • Serves as the assistant administrator and instructional leader
    • Participates in parent conferences, planning meetings, RTI, IAT, IEP, and 504 meetings
    • Initiates RTI process in conjunction with teacher
    • Serves as the lead for RTI processes
    • Works with Principal to resolve building complaints from parents regarding students
    • Assists in the creation of the building master schedule under the direction of the building Principal
    • Makes recommendations to the Principal regarding technology rollout and roll-in coordinating repairs; resolving technology issues
    • Assists in the coordination and supervision of after school clubs and extracurricular activities as assigned
    • Performs other duties as assigned 


    What We Offer:
    As a contracted employee, this position is assigned to work 208 days per year and 8 hours per day.

    Starting salary is in accordance with the negotiated agreement, increases with experience and education.

    TheSASO/SAST agreement and the Board of Education are currently working on a new professional agreement.  While that is in the works, please refer to the current agreement as to pay and benefits that are in place for the 2025-26 school year.
