Job Description

The BITS Collective includes Behavioral Intervention Therapy Services (BITS) and BITS Preparatory Academy, two branches of a growing organization committed to empowering children through high-quality behavioral and educational services. We specialize in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), early childhood education, life skills development, and inclusive programming for children of all abilities. As our team expands, we are seeking a skilled HR Generalist to support our staff and ensure HR operations run smoothly across all programs.

Description

Position Summary:

The HR Generalist will oversee day-to-day human resources operations, support a growing staff team, and ensure compliance with applicable labor laws, DCF regulations, and company policies. This individual will manage recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, training coordination, and recordkeeping, while playing a key role in shaping a positive, inclusive workplace culture.


Key Responsibilities:

Recruitment & Hiring

• Post job openings, screen applicants, and coordinate interviews for a variety of roles (teachers, aides, RBTs, BCBAs, etc.).

• Manage background checks and pre-employment requirements.

Onboarding & Offboarding

• Facilitate orientation and onboarding processes for new hires.

• Coordinate exit interviews and offboarding tasks.

HR Administration

• Maintain employee files and records (digital and paper).

• Track and document credentials, training (including DCF 45-hour requirements), certifications, and continuing education.

• Ensure compliance with licensing and regulatory bodies.

Employee Support & Relations

• Address employee inquiries regarding benefits, policies, and workplace issues.

• Foster a positive and professional workplace culture through communication, engagement, and team-building initiatives.

Policy & Compliance

• Assist with implementing and enforcing HR policies and procedures.

• Ensure adherence to labor laws, DCF standards, HIPAA, and company protocols.

• Support HR compliance during audits or licensing inspections.

Payroll & Benefits Support

• Coordinate with payroll services (or accounting) to ensure accurate time tracking and pay.

• Help employees navigate benefits enrollment and questions.

Training & Development

• Track and coordinate staff training, workshops, and professional development.

• Assist in scheduling CPR/BLS, HIPAA, safety, and DCF-mandated training.


Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (required).

Experience: 2–4 years of HR experience, preferably in healthcare, education, nonprofit, or childcare settings.

• Strong understanding of HR best practices, employment law, and regulatory compliance.

• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and HRIS systems.

• Knowledge of DCF licensing requirements, HIPAA, or familiarity with ABA therapy services is a plus.


Preferred Qualifications:

• PHR or SHRM-CP certification

• Familiarity with school operations, early childhood education, or clinical staff management

• Bilingual (Spanish/English or Haitian Creole/English) is a plus
