JOB TITLE: Senior Accountant

EMPLOYER: Procurement Professionals Alliance (PPA)

DEPARTMENT: Finance

REPORTS TO: Chief Financial Officer

SALARY: $71,950 - $86,350


SUMMARY: The Senior Accountant works closely with the Controller and Financial Coordinator to

ensure efficient accounting practices, reconcile monthly activity across one or more entities, and

prepare for the external audit and regulatory filings.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintains accounting department files and records.

• Staff contact for purchase cards, maintains policy, and monitors for violations. Cancels cards as needed and maintains appropriate spending limits for staff.

• Research problem invoices; interfaces with vendors, customer service team, and other appropriate staff to reconcile.

• Prepares for the Controller and Chief Financial Officer any necessary analyses of programs or account as needed

• Reconcile sub-ledgers to general ledger account balances.

• Assess internal controls on an ongoing basis. Conducts financial and budget analysis to ensure proper recording of transactions.

• Prepares for the annual budget cycle by building worksheets, meeting with teams, and forecasting needs. Works with other teams to forecast any possible variance to the current year budget.

• Prepares the monthly cash forecast for review.

• May be required to present to the Finance Committee.

• Assists with month-end close and runs monthly reports as required.

• Prepares invoices, checks, and other records and reviews for accuracy.

• Assists with preparation of 1099s as needed.

• Assists with special accounting projects as needed.

• Travels as needed but not expected to exceed 25% of time.

• Performs other related duties as assigned by management.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance or other related field.

• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business correspondence.

• Superior customer service skills.

• Detail-oriented.

• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to compose and write general business correspondence and effectively present information.

• Capacity to solve practical problems and prioritize work to meet deadlines.

• Demonstrated ability to operate computer software, i.e., word processing, spreadsheet and database management.

• Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.

• Ability to work accurately and quickly with minimal supervision.

• Ability to maintain pleasant/professional working relationships with staff.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• CPA designation preferred.

• At least five years of progressively complex accounting experience.

• Experience with Sage Intacct, bill.com or Divvy.

• Knowledge of accounting principles for not-for-profit organizations.

• Experience with non-profit association processes and procedures.
