Job Description:
Summary
The Seasonal Grounds Attendant is primarily responsible for performing routine lawn care and roadway maintenance by repairing, inspecting and cleaning the campus grounds. Illinois Central College has 3 locations (Peoria, East Peoria, and Pekin) and Grounds Attendants rotate among these locations.
Compensation for the Seasonal Grounds Attendant is $21.74 an hour. The posting will remain open until filled.
Essential Functions

Provide daily outstanding student services as defined by the College
Conduct lawn care and roadway maintenance on turf, trees, planting, roadways and parking lots.
Train in the lawn care & roadway maintenance area.
Preform rounds as assigned by cleaning grounds maintenance equipment, cleaning grounds areas by removing trash, mowing, trimming, pulling weeds, removing snow and maintaining turf in proper condition.
Inspecting grounds equipment as assigned.
Documenting work order information by using methods with the computerized maintenance management system.
Planning materials and tools required to perform the duties assigned.
Conducting all work by following safe work practices to protect everyone which may be affected by the work being accomplished.
Assist in roadway striping as assigned.
Assist in athletic fields' maintenance as assigned.
Assist others in Facilities with response to snow removal and emergency tasks as assigned.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.
Knowledge of basic and safe operation of general maintenance, grounds maintenance equipment and vehicle repair tools.
The ability to satisfy requirements for insurability in operating college vehicles and equipment.
The ability to possess a valid class D Illinois driver’s license.
The ability to operate trucks, tractors, and skid steers.
The ability to be flexible and have strong multi-tasking skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Completion of High School or equivalent education and one or more years of direct related experience in grounds maintenance function.
