Job Description
You will be the Strategic Operations Researcher for the Military Operations Analysis (MOA) department which is responsible for advancing modeling and simulation capabilities that support classified programs and strategic decision‑making.
What You Will Be Doing
As the Strategic Operations Researcher you will be responsible for developing high‑fidelity, object‑oriented models, integrating simulation tools, and delivering analytical insights that shape operational performance for Lockheed Martin and Department of War stakeholders.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Translate algorithms and physical phenomena into complex software models to improve scope and fidelity of modeling and simulation tools.
- Develop, integrate, and test physical/behavioral simulation software across engagement, mission, theater, and campaign levels.
- Enhance tooling, infrastructure, and processes to boost analyst efficiency and analytical pace.
- Build analyst tools that enable rapid exploration and distillation of large, complex data sets.
- Deliver concise briefings and visualizations that translate simulation results into actionable insights for senior decision‑makers.

Further Information About This Opportunity
MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must possess an active Secret clearance to start.
Basic Qualifications
• Data processing experience (Python, or similar)
• Bachelor’s degree in STEM discipline (operations research, mathematics, computer science or engineering discipline preferred)
Desired skills
• Object-oriented programming
• Familiarity with version‑control systems (Git)
• Experience with data‑wrangling tools (Pandas, NumPy, SQL) and analytic methods (e.g. design of experiments, optimization, or statistical analysis)
• Degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Knowledge and understanding of military platforms, sensors, weapons, and/or joint operations
• Experience executing Operations Analysis using Advanced Framework for Modeling, Simulation, and Integration (AFSIM) studies, post-processing/data mining and presenting results
• Technical experience in radar, electronic warfare, infrared, communications, cyber, or AI.
• Experience modeling airborne and surface military platform, sensor, or weapon performance and joint operations
• Current DoD Top Secret clearance
• Prior U.S. military active-duty and/or reserve experience
• Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to convey technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
