OCCUPATION: Snubbing Hand
The Snubbing Hand is part of the crew that works on a snubbing and is responsible for servicing oil and gas wells. The duties of the Snubbing Hand include assisting in rigging-up and rigging-down the unit, assisting rig crews, and other functions specified by the customer or well operator. All duties are to be performed according to standard operating procedures in order to maximize the safety of all personnel at the work site and to perform the task most efficiently.
Essential Functions of Job:
- Lift, operate, rig-up and down the components of the snubbing unit and other equipment used on the location
- Operate tongs, elevators, and other related tools and equipment
- Physically load and unload pipe or other materials without the use of tools or hoist equipment
- Sets hydraulic jacks, handles pads/boards and assists in attaching the guy wires to the anchor
- Assists in picking up or laying down tubing, manually lifting the tubing from the rack onto the work floor or vice versa
- Reports any safety hazards, accidents or maintenance issues to the rig supervisor
- Ensures that work carried out is in compliance with company policies and procedures and according to safety regulations
- Performs other related duties as assigned
