Purpose
Install, commission, maintain and/or repair Ranpak Automation equipment according to the given service
work order and in line with the applicable service levels while maximizing machine uptime and customer’s
satisfaction.
Scope
The job is within the After Market Sales & Service EMEA department of Ranpak Automation, a division of
Ranpak BV. The assignment is to install, commission, maintain and repair Ranpak Automation equipment.
Reporting
The Field Service Engineer reports to the Field Service Supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Fully accountable for completing the work according to the service work order
- Responsible for executing the work safely at all times
- Accountable for keeping own technical knowledge and skills up-to-date
- Responsible for letting the customer sign off the service work order
- Responsible for writing complete, detailed and meaningful field service reports
- Accountable for handing in the field service reports in time (usually the last day of work on site)
- Inform the customer and the Field Service Supervisor about the progress of the job
- Responsible for aligning with the Field Service Supervisor before taking next/different steps
- Maintain a professional relationship with the customer
- Be representative and appear in proper and cleaned Ranpak outfit
- Responsible for keeping the tools and other equipment (e.g. service van) in a good condition
- Responsible for a clean and tidy machine/working place when leaving the customer’s location
- Actively contribute to a professional and profitable service organization
Main tasks
- Follow safety instructions, field service alerts and quality alerts
- Installing new machines and machine upgrades
- Troubleshoot customer machine problems on site or remotely
- Perform repairs (corrective maintenance) on machines on site
- Perform preventative maintenance on machines
- Support the organization to do SAT, go-live and other testing or commissioning tasks
- Train customer and 3rd party operators and technicians
- Assist customers in moving and reinstalling their machines
- Share insights and information with the Field Service Supervisor and the team
- Provide recommendations to improve the serviceability of the machines
- Use of authorized service parts and return of unused parts
- Submit signed service work orders, visit reports and other required documentation in time
- Keep the tools, cars, vans, clothing and all other used equipment in a good condition
Profile
- MBO level 4 in Mechatronica; or five to eight years related experience and/or training in electronica
and mechanics; or equivalent combination of education and experience in engineering
- Strong mechanical/electronical skills to analyze and resolve problems of complex machinery
- Able to understand and work with PLCs of different vendors (e.g. Siemens, Beckhoff, etc.)
- Logical and solution-oriented thinking
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics and technical drawings
- Good verbal & written communication skills in Dutch and English (additional languages are a pre)
- Able to work independently as well as in teams
- Well-organized, well-mannered, self-controlled and coachable
- Above average use of computer applications like MS Office
- Willingness to travel most of the time worldwide
- Flexible in working times (absolute no 9 – 5 mentality)
