Job Description

BAE Systems is seeking an experienced Senior Lead Infrastructure Engineer to work collaboratively to support a hybrid cloud environment, providing technical leadership to manage Tier-2 support for multi-cloud (AWS, Azure GCC-High, Google and Oracle) and on-prem environments while ensuring a secure and reliable operational environment.  This position will work closely with subject matter experts and development (DevSecOps) teams to deliver high quality solutions.
In terms of Tier-2 Support, this leadership roles entails the following:

  • Ability to maintain operational readiness for all accredited systems and assist the adoption of advanced engineering for production systems across multi-cloud cloud platforms and on-premises infrastructure.

  • Oversee helpdesk functions to provide timely assistance to end-users

  • Provide full life cycle management for engineering support to all endpoints, including desktop/ laptop, patching, etc.

  • Experience with anticipatory monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolution of complex incidents escalated from Tier-0/1 support. 

  • Oversee security monitoring, vulnerability assessment and management, and risk mitigation.

  • Ability to oversee ICD-503 compliance requirements, security and resilient operations for critical IT infrastructure and services.

  • Manage traditional network engineering tasks such as VLAN management, configuration backups, and real-time device monitoring.

  • Conduct regular performance assessments of lT systems and proactively identify opportunities for improvement or remediation

  •  Perform other traditional IT maintenance, including:

    • Network device monitoring, performance optimization, and configuration management.

    • Endpoint lifecycle tasks such as provisioning, imaging, patching, and hardware replacement

    • Routine infrastructure management, including power, cooling, and hardware lifecycle

  • This leadership role requires technical acumen, strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset: activities will include achieving daily O&M objectives to achieve highly reliable operational results; coaching and reviewing the work of lower-level technical staff; and collaborating with subject matter experts and government personnel on a technical level, requiring deep technical knowledge.

  • Experience administering physical and digital infrastructure in a hybrid cloud environment.
  • Intermediate certifications from Cloud Service Providers AWS and Azure.
  • Experience provisioning and managing resources within IaaS/Cloud infrastructures (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform, etc.).
  • Experience working with VMWare and maintaining the underlying physical host environment
  • Experience migrating applications into a cloud hosted environment
  • Experience with security tools and practices related to DevSecOps (e.g., SAST, DAST, IAST)
  • Experience and general knowledge of compliance standards (e.g., OWASP, NIST) and ICD-503 standards
  • Experience with automated provisioning and configuration tools like Bicep, Terraform, CloudFormation, Chef, Puppet, Ansible or similar technologies.
