    SUMMARY

    Community Unit School District 200 is seeking a High School Counselor Intern (unpaid) to provide assistance in the counseling office in the following areas:

    • college, career, personal and social counseling
    • advisement with students/parents individually, in small and large groups on all aspects of educational planning, and development/implementation of programs to meet needs of students and parents
    • collection and reporting of data (NACAC website)

    CERTIFICATION/QUALIFICATIONS

    • Working towards a Master's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in School Counseling

      Classroom experience preferred
       

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

    • Provides school counseling services to help students address academic, personal/social, and career development needs
    • Collaboratively works as a member of problem-solving teams to address student needs; works closely with student's family, staff, administration and outside agencies as needed
    • Advises and assists students in the planning and preparation of post-secondary goals including school enrollment, course selection, and the scheduling of classes in order to meet those goals
    • Participates in, coordinates, or conducts activities which contribute to the counseling program and effective operation of the school including crisis intervention, responsive services and system support
    • Pursues professional growth
    • Carries out other duties as assigned by supervisors
