- Prepares patients for visit by directing and/or accompanying patients to the examining room; providing examination gowns and drapes; helping patients position themselves for the examination and/or treatment; arranging examining room instruments, supplies, and equipment.
- Welcomes patients by greeting patients, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries.
- Verifies patient information by interviewing patients; reviewing and/or recording medical history; taking vital signs; confirming purpose of visit or treatment.
- Supports patient care delivery by helping health care providers during examinations; preparing laboratory specimens; performing basic laboratory tests on the premises; disposing of contaminated supplies; sterilizing medical instruments and equipment; administering medications; authorizing drug refills as directed; telephoning prescriptions to pharmacies; drawing blood, preparing patients for x-rays; taking x-rays; removing sutures; changing dressings.
- Keeps medical and office equipment operating by following operating instructions and established procedures; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
- Maintains safe, secure, and healthy patient care environment by adhering to organization standards and policies, and to legal regulations; alerting others regarding potential concerns.
- Maintains patient confidence and protects medical office operations by keeping information confidential; cautioning others regarding potential breaches.
- Improves medical assisting and medical job knowledge by attending training sessions; reading technical publications.
- Contributes to medical assisting and medical office success by welcoming related, different, and new requests; helping others accomplish job results.
- Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements
- Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards

- Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required

Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.
- High School Diploma or equivalent Required
- Completion of a Medical Assistant of related healthcare training program Required
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)-AAMA Preferred
- Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.
