PT - Instructor, Healthcare Programs
Salary:
$26.12 per hour
Summary of Function:
All aspects of instruction for the Allied Health program ensure that materials and content adhere to all applicable regulating agencies and guidelines.
Typical Duties:
- Serves Students. Teach Allied Health program courses. Instructors are responsible for the daily operation of their course/program which includes lectures, project management, and the assignment of reinforcement work for students.
- Creation and implementation of lesson plans. This may include but is not limited to, lectures, PowerPoint-type presentations, homework assignments, design of course materials, and maintenance/design of the course on Canvas.
- Set up and breakdown of equipment for use during practical skills training. Instructors are required to teach skills in accordance with the Education Standards and the course syllabi. Instructors will teach through both lecture and practical hands-on methods. Courses may include theory, practical application, skills training, and/or clinical practicum.
- Identifies student learning outcomes; develops processes and tools for assessment; incorporates results to modify instruction and materials in general education, degree programs, course clusters, and/or certificate programs in coordination with colleagues.
- Works with the Director of Allied Health and course/program coordinator to coordinate regular
reviews of the program to ensure the effectiveness of teaching, alignment with college mission and values, and to meet the community/workforce needs. - Attends and participates in staff meetings, committees, and division planning and development as assigned.
- Maintains open communication pathways with students, supervisors, staff, and/or clinical partners via AWC email.
- Support and participate in strategic planning initiatives and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or higher
- Three years of professional experience in the assigned program
- An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may be considered
Additional Eligibility Requirements:
- Certified and/or licensed in the State of Arizona as appropriate for a particular program assignment
- Must meet all health requirements for presence in the specific clinical area, as required by the clinical affiliate sites

Position Type & Work Schedule:
- Part-time
- Up to 19 hours per week
- Work flexible schedule to meet the program, department, and/or institutional needs, which may include Fridays, nights, and/or weekends
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret, apply, and follow college policies and procedures
- Knowledge of or ability to maintain organizational structure, workflow and operating procedures
- Skill in current technologies and word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software, specifically Microsoft Office applications, Windows, college system platforms, software and applications especially those specific to the department operations
- Skill and ability to be self-directed and to manage one’s own time
- Ability to complete all departmental and/or institutional mandatory training or development
- Ability to organize, prioritize, follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion, with close attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and contribute to a collaborative team environment
- Ability to provide assistance in a professional and supportive manner
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally, in writing, and in a public setting, and to relate to others in a professional manner
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of protected information and follow FERPA guidelines
- Ability to demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and civility in all job-related actions
- Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions, and take appropriate actions to resolve problems using independent judgment and decision-making processes
- Ability to establish and maintain positive, effective, and collaborative relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization, students, and the public
Work Environment:
- Inside clinical environment with normal noise and lighting levels
- Working environment may include various locations across the service district, with varying noise levels, indoor and/or outdoor locations as needed to support program, department or institutional needs.
Physical Demands:
- Prolonged periods of standing and/or walking
- May lift, carry, push, and/or pull, at times up to 25 pounds
- Occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and/or twist
Travel:
- No Travel Required

- Instruction assignment dependent upon departmental and/or institutional needs
- Faculty may be asked to teach on various campuses, via in-person, online, hybrid, and virtual learning environments, as directed by the needs of the institution for a given semester
- Course scheduling may include daytime, evenings, and/or weekends
