About the Department

The Skate Instructor/Coach position is responsible for instructing and coaching ice skating at the Plymouth Ice Center.

Position Duties

Ensure program instruction is taught in accordance to the ISI progression program.
Ensure a successful skating program which results in engaged skaters and program growth.
- Provide instruction to a variety of skate lesson levels and ages.
- Ensure that class instruction is organized and utilizes proper skating techniques.
- Monitor the well-being of all participants throughout skate lessons.
- Ensure a safe and healthy environment for all skaters.
Administrate and participate in strategic meetings.
Establish open and active communication with skating director, coaches, skating participants, parents, and arena staff.

Must be at least 16 years of age
Must have passed the skating level that you are assigned to instruct
Must be able to demonstrate all skills in the level that you would be assigned to teach
Must be able to work weekend hours
Must be detail-oriented
Must be self-motivated and able to work independently
Must be able to communicate positively and effectively with participants
Must understand or have ability to learn teaching techniques and proper skill progression
Prior teaching experience is a plus
