    Elementary  TSS (Transitioning Students for Success) Teacher

    • Provide instruction to students with severe cognitive disabilities.
    • Work with and supervise classroom paraprofessionals when providing instruction.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Instruction & Academic Support

    • Deliver small-group or individualized instruction in core subjects (reading, writing, math).
    • Use differentiated teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
    • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction based on data.

    Transition Readiness

    • Teach organizational, study, and time-management skills.
    • Prepare students for middle school expectations (class changes, multiple teachers, increased workload).
    • Help students develop independence and self-advocacy skills.

    Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)

    • Support students in building confidence, resilience, and positive peer relationships.
    • Implement SEL lessons focusing on emotional regulation and problem-solving.
    • Address behavioral challenges using positive interventions.

    Collaboration

    • Work closely with general education teachers, special education staff, counselors, and administrators.
    • Participate in meetings such as RTI/MTSS, IEP (if applicable), and parent conferences.
    • Communicate regularly with families about student progress and needs.

    Assessment & Documentation

    • Use formal and informal assessments to identify student needs.
    • Maintain accurate records of student progress and interventions.
    • Contribute to intervention plans and progress reports.

    Classroom Environment

    • Create a structured, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
    • Establish clear expectations and routines.

    Qualifications:

    • Texas State Certification as a Special Education Teacher
    • Special Education Certification Required: Special Education EC-12
