Job Summary:
The District Sales Manager is a remote position based in the US, with operations in the US, and is responsible for overseeing and directing the sales operations of multiple retail stores within a specific geographic area, driving sales growth, overseeing sales personnel, and ensuring that customer satisfaction remains a top priority. This position reports directly to the North Regional Sales Manager and has roughly 20 direct reports.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develops and executes strategic plans to reach sales targets in the district.
- Manages a sales team to meet and exceed budgeted sales goals.
- Oversees daily operations of multiple retail stores within the assigned district, ensuring efficiency and profitability.
- Hires, trains, and manages store managers, providing them with the tools and support needed to succeed.
- Fosters a culture of exceptional customer service, ensuring all stores consistently meet customer needs and expectations.
- Forecasts annual, quarterly, and monthly sales levels for the assigned district.
- Maintains a deep understanding of Leonard products and industry trends to provide insightful leadership to team members and customers.
- Monitors market trends and competitor activity and adjusts strategies as necessary to stay competitive.
- Provides ongoing training to the sales team.
- Works closely with the Talent Acquisition Department to recruit skilled talent for the district’s retail sales teams.
- Ensures all retail stores within the district are adhering to company policies and procedures and conducts regular audits to verify compliance.
- Implements corrective measures as necessary to ensure consistent application of policies across all stores.
- Conducts performance reviews and provides regular feedback to team members.
- Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations that impact retail operations.
- Regularly visits stores within the district to assess operations, provide feedback, and offer support.

Competencies (skills, knowledge, and abilities):
- Proven ability to meet sales targets.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software, as well as CRM or other sales software.
- Proven track record of managing multiple retail stores or a district.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, and customer service skills.
- Experience with various social media platforms such as Facebook, SOCi, etc.
- Strong understanding of retail operations, including sales, customer service, and merchandising.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work beyond normal working hours, and on weekends as needed.
- Comfortable traveling for extended periods when needed.
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, other related field, or equivalent job experience is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in retail management, with a focus on sales.
Travel:
- This role requires up to 90% travel, often encompassing multiple store locations within the district. This includes regular store visits for operational assessments, team meetings, training sessions, and problem resolution. The ability to adapt to varying schedules and manage time effectively while traveling is crucial.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for prolonged periods.
- Ability to travel to district retail shops as necessary.
- Ability to type on a keyboard.
- Ability to hear and talk.
- Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as calculator, copy machine, and printer.
- Ability to lift and carry of items up to 50 pounds, such as parts or accessories.
- Requires close vision for computer work and reviewing correspondence.
