If so, you may be just the person for the Program Assistant II- Marketing position at Downtown Cary Park! This position plays an important role in promoting the fun and engaging experiences offered in the Park and telling the ongoing and evolving story of this amazing urban space in Downtown Cary.
The DCP Program Assistant – Marketing actively contributes to operational success by assisting with important internal marketing tactic, design of web content, managing vendor communications, preparing event materials, coordinating signage needs, and providing on-site support during festivals and events.
This position requires a flexible schedule, including availability to work evenings and weekends as needed to assist with events.
This is a part-time, non-benefited, year-round position, up to 20 hours a week, with a maximum of 999 hours per year.
Position Duties
- Maintain and update assigned web pages with timely, accurate, and engaging content.
- Coordinate external calendar entries for DCP events.
- Coordinate with department’s marketing team to execute communications plans, adhere to brand standards, and coordinate internal and external marketing tactics.
- Respond to inquiries via calls and emails, addressing questions, complaints, providing consistent, on-brand information.
- Coordinate the creation and distribution of printed and digital materials (brochures, booklets, etc.) that reflect the Park’s brand and mission.
- Assist?with social media content creation, scheduling, and basic monitoring.
- Contribute regularly to the Park’s newsletter, including written content, graphics, and updates that engage the community.
- Assist in developing, scheduling, and implementing marketing strategies for programs.
- Operate standard office equipment, including computers and marketing software tools, to assist in content creation including creation and production of marketing assets such as flyers, stickers signs, and templates.
- Perform other job-related tasks as required
Minimum Qualifications
- Passion for branding, storytelling and a deep appreciation for community engagement.
- Strong organizational skills with an acute attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to work effectively with team members, vendors, and the public.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with event management, communication, and creative software is a plus (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Salesforce).
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to support event schedules.
- Ability to acquire knowledge of policies, procedures and services of the Department and Park.
Other Qualifications
Education and Experience
Requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to an associate degree with coursework in Communication, Marketing, Event Management, or a related field.
Preference will be given to candidates who possess the following:
- Some experience with photography.
- Some experience with graphic design.
Physical Requirements
Work in this class requires an employee to be able to hear and talkin order to communicate with the public and with groups under instruction. An employee must be able to climb, walk unassisted and move about freely in order to interact with patrons. Requires the ability to lift moderately heavy items (up to 25 lbs.) Visual acuity is needed to read typewritten and handwritten materials and to view a computer terminal. Some dexterity is needed for typing and the operation of computers and standard office equipment. Work in this class is primarily clerical and may require sitting and use of a computer for extended time periods.
