BJC HealthCare is seeking a Strategic Category Manager to support the Pharmacy & Lab contracts team. This individual will be leading a team of 4 category managers. 

 

Ideal applicants will have a background in pharmacy, lab or strategic contracts.

Role Purpose

Leads and develops team of sourcing and contracting professionals to ensure talent is utilized effectively, the team follows consistent standard work, and has tools and resources to execute, while ensuring the category strategies, sourcing decisions, and supplier relationships align with the organization's procurement and business objectives.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
  • Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
  • Develop and maintain category plans that identify opportunities for operational efficiencies, drive cost savings, manage risk, improve safety, drive innovation, and ensure the continuous development of portfolio managed.
  • Supervise, plan, manage and assume complete responsibility for all activities and processes associated with the portfolio assigned, ensuring the process comply with internal policies, legal requirements and industry regulations.
  • Drive process, category planning, and supplier performance improvements through KPI tracking/reporting. Reporting on progress, challenges, and opportunities to leadership.
  • Act as the primary liaison by establishing a strong network and fosters collaboration with leadership across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and outline 12-18 month data driven portfolio strategy to include resource/demand needs, market bid calendar, and portfolio pro forma.
