Job Description

Lake Chelan School District has openings for Emergency Certified substitute teachers and if you have a 4-year bachelor’s degree you are eligible to apply.  Substitute salary is set at $200 per day and $26.67/hour with a 2 hour minimum pay.

If you have experience working with children, we invite you to apply to Lake Chelan School District to work as an Emergency Substitute.

What if I don’t have a teaching certificate?

As an Emergency Substitute, you can qualify for a school district-initiated conditional certificate, valid for 1-2 years.

How do I apply to become an Emergency Substitute?

The steps to become employed as an Emergency Substitute are outlined below.

Contact the Lake Chelan School District website to check the availability of substitute positions. https://www.chelanschools.org/

Complete and submit the online application for SUBSITUTE – TEACHER (EMERGENCY CERT)  with a letter of interest and referencesPlease indicate in your letter of interest that you are interested in working as an emergency substitute and your experience working with children in grades kindergarten through grade 12. This experience can be paid or volunteer experience.

The superintendent will review your application and references. An interview may be set up for you with a district administrator. Upon their recommendation to hire you as a substitute, you will be notified via an email from [email protected] (or Red Rover applicant tracking system with Lake Chelan SD)

You will be asked to complete a fingerprint background check with the NCESD in Wenatchee. Fingerprints will be valid for 2 years for all school districts in the state of Washington.

Speak to the LCSD Central Office about requesting you as an Emergency Substitute teacher in the OSPI system.

If you are interested in working as a substitute in other regional districts, you will need to contact and apply to each of those districts separately from LCSD. 

The districts that are requesting you as an emergency substitute will find you in the E-Certification system and add the request online, to your profile. This should send an email to the username you attach to your account.

When you have received this notice, you can sign into your account and access E-Certification to claim the request.

Make sure all requests from preferred districts have been submitted before applying.

Fill in the required information and criminal history questions. You will be asked for information on three character references. The credit card fee payment is at the end of the application.

Once the application has been submitted, you can check the review status on your E-Certification profile.

You will need to check back on your OSPI E-Certification profile to see when the certificate has been issued and will be able to print/download a copy of the certificate from your profile.

Once you have received your certificate, please notify Georgia Mashayekh at the LCSD central office or print a copy of your certificate and deliver it to the central office.

You will then complete the annual LCSD Reasonable Assurance letter and get an absence management (Red Rover) profile to see absences.
