Job Description
Nevada State University (NSU) invites applications for the position of Student Worker - School of Education - Teacher Academy Pipeline Project (SoE-TAPP).
The SoE-TAPP Student Worker will work at the Christenson Education Building (CEB) and at local high school sites to support the TAPP project. The student worker will be supervised by the Associate Director of TAPP.
We are looking for a student in the School of Education (SoE) who is open to learn from and collaborate with a diverse staff and student population to help recruit and retain students to become elementary, secondary, special education and/or bilingual educators, school psychologists, or speech pathologists.
The SoE-TAPP Student Worker will assist with event development, design presentations, assist with conducting educational research, collect and organize data, collaborate with SoE students to develop lessons and programs, co-create and co-facilitate trainings and workshops, deliver presentations at high school sites, and compile student resources. The SoE-TAPP Student Worker will act as a student liaison for the School of Education and the TAPP project, attending various school site meetings, outreach events, and campus student organizations to stay up to date about campus offerings. This position will interact with external school partners and families, including non-English speaking families, and must represent themselves with a high level of respect and professionalism, be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and organized.
The SoE-TAPP Student Worker will also support the daily operations of the TAPP Project by offering administrative and office support duties, coordinating schedules for faculty and students to deliver presentations at various high schools, research strategies for successful interactive teaching and family engagement, and develop educational programming and relevant lesson plans for student workshops. Training, guidance, and coaching will be provided.

Core Responsibilities:
Event Planning and Program/Workshop Development
- Assist with planning and execution of TAPP special events for high school students accessing careers in education.
- Work with the TAPP Associate Director in preparing programming for TAPP High School students.
- Co-create and co-design TAPP lessons using scientific research to support the project.
- Collaborate with and serve as a campus liaison between student organizations, staff, and faculty to identify student needs.
- Attend trainings, conferences, and professional development opportunities to gain additional expertise, skills, and knowledge related to relevant topics and have opportunities to present outcomes.
School Outreach
- Lead high school student-facing workshops to provide access to concurrent enrollment courses at partner schools.
- Maintain detailed schedules to support outreach activities with community partners.
- Support students, families and staff in their understanding and awareness of concurrent enrollment/dual credit courses, including providing information in their native language.
- Greet people at outreach events and provide resources to families and students.
- Coordinate with the BESO student organization to schedule interpreting opportunities for non-English speaking audiences.
- Maintain interpreting equipment in working order and organized.
Data Collection and Research
- Assist TAPP Associate Director and SoE faculty in research and student data collection and maintenance to support program evaluation.
- Research and collate pertinent college access materials according to students’ interests.
- File confidential student paperwork such as photo releases.
Marketing
- Work with the marketing team to create, post, and promote programming via social media.
- Facilitate School of Education’s social media and promotional campaigns, announcing workshops, additional resources, services, activities and training.
- Design flyers and promotional materials for recruitment efforts.
Office Assistance
- Serve as frontline assistant for the Dean’s Office and TAPP Associate Director.
- Assist with office support, including creating and editing Word documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.
- Represent self and the office with a high degree of professionalism engaging in leadership of peers.
- Attend weekly one-on-one meetings with supervisor to discuss job responsibilities, development of programing topics, and feedback for growth.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be in good academic standing and maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher (undergraduate) or 3.0 or higher (graduate).
Must be enrolled as a degree seeking student with a minimum of 6 credits (undergraduate) or 5 credits (graduate) in the current or upcoming semester at Nevada State.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong knowledge and competency in Microsoft Office programs, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Attention to detail.
Be able to work in an environment of client confidentiality and respect.
Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment-related visas).

Preferred Qualifications:
- Be studying in the field of education, bilingual education, special education, school psychology, speech-language pathology, psychology.

Work Hours:
Student employees can work up to 19.5 hours per week.
Hourly Rate:
$14.00 per hour.
