Quality Assurance Inspector (CM as Advisor – Construction Phase)

 

Role Summary

The Quality Assurance Inspector supports the CM as Advisor team by performing construction phase inspection, verification, and documentation activities to ensure compliance with contract documents, applicable codes, and quality standards. The role focuses on construction quality oversight, not contractor means and methods.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform construction phase quality assurance inspections in accordance with the CM as Advisor SOW and GSA requirements.
  • Inspect construction activities associated with:
  • Historic structure renovation;
  • Building addition interfaces;
  • Underground utilities and electrical duct banks;
  • Fire suppression systems and supporting infrastructure;
  • Generator installation and electrical distribution systems; and
  • Life-safety and integrated systems.
  • Verify that installed work conforms to approved submittals, shop drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Document inspection findings, deficiencies, and corrective actions in formal QA reports.
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager and technical staff regarding observed quality issues and required follow-up.

 

Support increased inspection frequency and technical depth necessitated by:

  • Historic renovation constraints;
  • Systems-intensive construction; and
  • Multi-structure site coordination.
  • Witness and document testing activities as required, including system startup, functional testing, and commissioning-related inspections.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with quality requirements without directing contractor means or methods.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records to support construction closeout and turnover.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Experience performing QA inspections on complex construction projects, preferably public-sector or federally funded.
  • Familiarity with renovation projects, underground infrastructure, and life-safety systems.
  • Ability to interpret construction documents, submittals, and shop drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently in the field while coordinating closely with CM staff.

  • Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned

  • Occasionally moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
  • Occasionally adjusting or moving objects up to 20 pounds in all directions
