Position Summary

The Café Assistant completes a variety of tasks to ensure Green Tomato Café guests are well served and café processes run smoothly. These tasks include, but are not limited to: cashier, busser, dishwasher and cook duties. This team member will serve wherever needed for the Green Tomato Café team to be successful and will do so with a positive, team-oriented attitude that centers around guest satisfaction. The Café Assistant reports to the Café Manager.

Qualifications 

• Basic understanding of cooking and knife handling skills, safety, sanitation and food handling procedures.
• Ability to take direction and work in a team environment.
• Experience and demonstrated ability to work in a culturally diverse environment.
• Ability to stand for long periods of times.
• Demonstrated integrity, honesty, and accountability in all interactions.
• Ability to count money and give change accurately and efficiently.
• Self-motivated, organized, and have a commitment to quality food and guest service.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds on occasion and 35 pounds regularly.
• Ability to work calmly and efficiently in a fast paced, always changing environment.
• Ability to strongly embrace and personify the mission of Lawndale Christian Health Center.

Required Knowledge, Education, Experience or Licensure/Registration

• High school diploma preferred
• Proficient in basic mathematics, basic computer awareness
• Proficiency in English speaking, reading, and writing
• Bi-lingual preferred but not required
