Job Summary
Library and Information Adjunct Faculty assist with the instructional delivery of courses taken by program majors for graduates and undergraduates.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The School of Library and Information Science is seeking someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The School values accountability, time management, high ethical standards, and personal integrity among employees. Library and information adjunct faculty teach up to 6 hours [two – 3-credit-hour courses] per semester. Typical courses focus on technology in libraries, information science, and traditional library services—like cataloging, collection development, reference, literature, etc. 

  1. Instruction in online synchronous formats to graduates and undergraduates.
  2. Assessment of student learning outcomes.
  3. Active communication with students via email and LMS email.
  4. Use of active learning techniques.
  5. Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  6. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in library and information science.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to teach online
  • Adept in Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate with all groups of individuals.
  • Excellent organization and time-management skills.
  • Resourceful and determined to provide a positive experience for others.
  • Detail oriented.
Preferred Qualifications
A doctoral degree in library and information science or related field is required for teaching graduate-level courses.
Demonstrated success in university teaching online.
Work experience in a library, archive, or cultural repository.
Demonstrated competence in emergent technologies.
