Job Description

JOB TITLEIntensive Employment Specialist      

CLASSIFICATION: Full Time, Non-Exempt

PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT:   Vocational Services

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:  Supervisor of Community Employment

POSITION SUMMARY:

Supports adults and youth with disabilities in our employment programs under both the ACCES VR contract and OPWDD services to help individuals prepare, obtain and maintain employment through the person-centered approach.  Promotes a positive and productive team environment, to include working a flexible schedule along with all responsibilities to meet programmatic needs.  Engages in community outreach, develops and nurtures a collaborative relationship with local businesses, schools, and outside agencies to include ACCES-VR and OPWDD to expand opportunities for community partnerships.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education, Training & Experience:
Associates’ Degree in Human Services or related field

Two (2) years of experience of working with adults and/or youth with various disabilities

 

Preferred Education, Training & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field

Experience providing vocational support to individuals with disabilities.

*Applicants with Associates or Bachelor’s degree may provide documentation of training, certifications and education demonstrating knowledge in the field

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

A Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record with dependable transportation

Ability to be positive and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor in the community.

Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel to sites for community-based work experiences or employment.

Ability to effectively communicate orally, in writing, and on the telephone.

Ability to design and coordinate group vocational and work readiness activities for youth and/or adults.

Ability to understand, communicate and enforce regulations governing all vocational services.

Ability to learn and use online and virtual training formats for group activities.

 

SALARY:

$21 per hour starting rate
