General Description of Position Duties:

The Bus Monitor/Aide assists the school bus driver in maintaining order and ensuring the safety and well-being of students while they are being transported to and from school or other activities. Responsibilities include helping students on and off the bus, ensuring students are seated safely, managing student behavior, assisting with special needs accommodations, and communicating effectively with school staff and parents as needed.

Special Skills, Training or Aptitudes Required or Desired:

Ability to interact positively and professionally with students, staff, and families
Ability to manage student behavior calmly and effectively
Patience and attentiveness, particularly with young children or students with special needs
CPR/First Aid certification preferred
Must pass background check

This position requires attentiveness, patience, and the ability to respond quickly and calmly in potentially stressful situations
Frequent sitting or standing, particularly during bus routes
Frequent walking, including assisting students up and down steps and occasionally over uneven surfaces
Regularly required to talk, listen, and observe students to ensure safety and appropriate conduct
Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or lift students or equipment
Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Specific vision abilities required include close vision and distance vision
Ability to handle and balance multiple demands during high-traffic periods (pickup and drop-off)
