Summary
Snyder Junior High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a full-time physical education instructor. The ideal candidate will promote physical fitness, teamwork, and healthy lifestyle choices among students in grades 6-8. This role requires a passion for sports and physical activity, along with the ability to inspire and engage young learners in developing their physical abilities and understanding the importance of health.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive physical education curriculum that aligns with state standards and promotes physical fitness and wellness.
- Plan and conduct engaging lessons that cater to diverse student needs and abilities, ensuring all students are actively participating.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to help them improve their physical skills and understanding of fitness concepts.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship.
- Organize and oversee extracurricular activities, including sports teams and physical fitness events, to enhance student engagement in physical activities.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and the community to promote health and wellness initiatives within the school.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, participation, and performance in physical education classes.
- Stay current on best practices in physical education and integrate new techniques and strategies into lessons.
- Ensure the safety and proper maintenance of all physical education equipment and facilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field.
- Valid state teaching certification in Physical Education for middle school.
- Strong knowledge of physical education principles, sports, and health education.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the community.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Experience working with middle school-aged children is preferred but not required.
- CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.
