G4S Patient Transport Services (PTS) is one of the UK’s largest Non-Emergency Patient Transport providers, carrying out over 350,000 journeys on behalf of the NHS every year. With 12 operational bases across the UK and a dedicated call centre, we employ over 720 members of staff to deliver safe, caring, high-quality patient-centric transport.
About the Role
The Learning and Development Officer/Specialist role is a pivotal position in the development of all G4S PTS staff.
This role will be responsible for delivering high-quality training programs covering Inductions, continuing professional development and programs designed to support other areas of the G4S network.
Experts in their field, such as L&D specialists, may sometimes be requested to provide additional support to staff.
As an experienced Learning and Development Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring that the training delivery meets high-quality standards to ensure we equip our staff with the necessary knowledge and skills to provide excellent service, safety, and a patient centred approach to service users across the G4S Patient Transport Services contract.
Some of the key responsibilities for this role are;
- To provide continuing and ongoing support to staff members throughout their careers, enabling their continued professional development
- To facilitate educational support, mentorship, and feedback to all staff taking specific and focused responsibility for their education, development and learning
- To enable and facilitate G4S staff to deliver high-quality pre-hospital patient care by providing innovative, efficient and effective in–house development, training and education
- Promote high-quality patient care by being an advocate for G4S core values
- Participate in the development and implementation of service improvement, research and policies, promoting G4S PTS strategic objectives and supporting specific initiatives
- To participate in the delivery of key objectives as defined by clinical governance / Health and safety legislation and wider legislative bodies
- To undertake and facilitate additional ad-hoc training as directed
- Gather information from and provide detailed feedback (in response to verbal/written reports or direct supervision) to staff where necessary to promote a change in behaviour, including communication, discussion and action planning with learners and staff
- Facilitate the learning and development of staff identified as requiring remedial support in a manner that challenges poor performance and empowers individuals to achieve their potential
- Act as a positive role model, encouraging transparency and support in an open and honest culture where staff feel able to challenge poor practice and suggest improvements to service delivery and patient care
- Maintain standards of personal and professional development
- Deliver all training packages in accordance with awarding body guidelines
- Maintain accurate training records in accordance with G4S PTS guidelines
- Play an active role in suggesting course content utilising aids to assist the L&D Manager in developing training packages to support current and future operations
