Working under minimal supervision, the MongoDB Database Administrator – Senior will be responsible for supporting new and existing MongoDB database systems and will help guide best practices in database administration, and introduce innovation with automation. The MongoDB DBA – Senior will be responsible for designing, deploying and maintaining MongoDB database clusters that will enable and enhance software products and systems used every day by large groups of users.
The MongoDB DBA – Senior should have advanced knowledge of MongoDB databases including creation and implementation of fully functional database clusters, ability to maintain multiple development, QA and production environments with strong experience in performance tuning.
ACCOUNTABILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Upgrades of MongoDB, database migrations and updates and application of database patches
- Backup and restores, export and import of data to and from MongoDB, run time configuration of MongoDB
- Monitoring at server, database, collection level, and using various monitoring tools related to MongoDB
- Maintains standards and design of physical data storage, maintenance, access and security administration
- Creates/maintains backup and recovery strategies on database management systems
- Supports multiple services and multiple databases of medium complexity with multiple concurrent users, ensuring control, integrity and accessibility of data
- Installs, configures and maintains high availability server solutions
- Troubleshoots alerts (alert log, jobs, disk group, etc.) and performance issues. Performs database performance tuning tasks
- Implements multiple projects along with the production support
- Will perform on-call support.
SKILLS & CERTIFICATIONS
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
- Knowledge of database architecture and its implementation
- Good knowledge of PL/SQL programming language
- Good knowledge of Instance, database and query tuning to improve the performance of the database/application
- Good understanding of Disaster Recovery (DR) methodologies
- Good understanding of SAN technologies related to disk layouts
- Good knowledge of Windows/Linux/AIX operating systems and shell scripting
- Good understanding of Change Management procedures
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and straightforward manner

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- BA/BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent work experience
- Overall 6 to 8 years of experience working with information management systems in development, maintenance, administration, database management or related information systems skills.
- Minimum 4 years’ of MongoDB database management systems in testing, implementation, maintenance and administration in a multiple platform environment. MongoDB certified DBA from MongoDB University.
- Minimum 2 years’ of experience with Linux system administration, configuration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and security procedures
- Minimum 2 years’ of experience with relevant scripting languages or programming frameworks desired (Python, Ruby).
- Expertise in database/data design and architectural principles and methodologies.
