Job Description

About the Department

The Town of Breckenridge Recreation Department is seeking a customer-service-oriented Non-Certified Ice Hockey Official to support Recreation Department programs and services. Responsibilities include assisting with program setup and operations, preparing facilities and equipment, light maintenance, registration and cash handling, participant interaction, scheduling, enforcing policies, ensuring safety, and collecting feedback.

Non-Certified Ice Hockey Officials officiate adult ice hockey games at the Stephen C. West Ice Arena, enforcing USA Hockey and Town of Breckenridge Adult Hockey League rules, calling penalties, inspecting the ice surface and equipment, and reviewing score sheets as needed. Officials monitor player behavior, manage disputes professionally, promote sportsmanship, and provide a safe, positive experience that reflects well on the Town of Breckenridge and its hockey programs.

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must possess excellent ice skating skills.
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of USA Hockey rules via work history and/or playing experience.
  • Must have one (1) or more years of customer service experience.
  • Must be able to handle stressful situations in a tactful, professional manner while communicating effectively and courteously.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR EQUIPMENT REQUIRED
  • Basic CPR, AED, and First Aid Certifications required within 60 day of hire.
  • Preventing Disease Transmission (PDT) required within 60 days of hire.  
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • One (1) or more years of ice hockey officiating experience.
  • One (1) or more years of customer service experience involving youth/adult hockey programs.
  • One (1) or more years experience playing hockey at the high school or club level.

Other Qualifications

Typical Hiring Pay Range: $20.50 - $21.75 per hour. 

WORK SCHEDULE
Primary shifts for this position generally include Sunday – Friday evenings, from 5:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m. (schedule varies).  Individuals in this position must be flexible in terms of availability, and may on occasion be required to work other shifts as needed, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
