Job Description

Our school-year childcare center is looking for a caring and dependable Infant Childcare Provider to nurture and support infants during the academic year. This role is perfect for individuals who want to work on a school-year schedule, with summers and school breaks off. We follow the New York State Pyramid Model best practices and responsive caregiving to create a supportive and enriching environment for infants and families.

Description

Responsibilities:

Provide daily care for infants, including feeding, diapering, dressing, and soothing.

Maintain consistent routines for sleep, meals, and developmental activities.

Support infants’ social, emotional, and cognitive growth through interactive play.

Use NYS Pyramid Model best practices to foster positive infant development.

Engage in responsive caregiving, recognizing and responding to infants’ cues and needs.

Create a clean, safe, and nurturing environment in the classroom.

Monitor infants’ developmental milestones 

Understand and follow Ellyn Satter’s Division of Responsibility in Feeding.

Ensure compliance with childcare licensing regulations and health and safety protocols.

Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain a positive and organized classroom.

Maintain thorough daily records of infant care, feeding schedules, and parent communication via the Brightwheel platform.

Daily outside play is required by OCFS when weather permits.

Physically fit to provide childcare and perform the following duties per each 8-hour shift:

-lifting/bending to put children in and take out of cribs and help them fall asleep.

-Proper Diapering

-playing on the ground

-standing/performing care tasks

-ability to safely carry/hold infants throughout the day

-ability to quickly evacuate in the case of emergency/monthly fire drills

Qualifications:

CPR & First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Willingness to complete 15 hours of training per school year.

Experience working in childcare settings, especially with infants.

Ability to work on a structured school-year schedule with breaks during holidays/summer.

A passion for early childhood development and a nurturing demeanor.

Ability and willingness to learn and implement best practices for infant development through completion of training at the discretion of the director.
