Whirlpool is seeking qualified candidates to join our Global Strategic Sourcing, as an Commercial Associate over Global Strategic Sourcing within the Direct Procurement organization.  The role is located in Monterrey, Mexico. The Associate will complement Whirlpool’s NAR GSS strategy by delivering on cost, quality, and supply reliability goals for the company. In this role, you will have accountability for the assigned Cooling System commodity, including but not limited to Compressor, Condenser, Evaporator, Heat Exchanger among others Refrigeration Components. This position will engage cross-functional stakeholders and utilize effective Supplier Relationship Management techniques and negotiations skills to drive and deliver cost savings, contract negotiations, engineering projects, dual sourcing strategies, complexity reduction and on time sourcing for new launches.

This role in summary

The Associate is responsible and accountable to carry commodity strategies, sourcing initiatives, supplier relationship management, and contracting aligned to Whirlpool’s policies and KPIs. The role will require some cross-functional iterations and requires the ability to provide the right outcomes for Business Functions, Global Strategic Sourcing, and Whirlpool Corporation. This commercial role will support National, Regional and Global initiatives to delivery company imperatives.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Drive supplier performance management and commercial relationships

  • Collaborate and influence internal stakeholders (engineering, business, manufacturing, finance, etc.) and suppliers

  • Provide monitoring for procurement projects and initiatives

  • Drive results for cost savings, quality, and delivery KPIs

  • Execute change, compliance, governance, and continuous improvement

  • Carry commodity activities by:

    • Developing and implementing commodity strategies to drive direction and results

    • Prioritizing resources and critical projects in adherence to objectives and milestones

    • Optimizing sourcing & technical projects, key initiatives and complexity aligned with MVT

    • Conducting market insights and delivering risk mitigation plans and actions

    • Negotiating contracts between Whirlpool and suppliers

    • Responding to and resolving day-to-day operational supply base challenges

  • Key Deliverables:

    • Achieve year-over-year cost reductions and free cash flow improvements

    • Achieve Supplier Relationship Management targets to grow strategic partnerships and drive compliance

    • Develop and execute detailed sourcing strategies across key commodities that are required to deliver objectives

    • Partner with key stakeholders to improve cross-functional engagement and productivity

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 1-2 years of experience in Procurement, Business, Finance, or Supply Chain

  • Excellent written and verbal communication (English language), with proficient PC & Google Workspace related skills

Preferred skills and experiences

  • Interpersonal, motivational, and influential skills to engage and build rapport with business

  • Negotiation experience, contract development and execution, and conflict resolution

  • Interpret and manipulate data with analytical skills

  • Project management in adherence to objectives and milestones
