Job Description

About the Role

Are you curious about how IT systems work behind the scenes? Want hands‑on experience with servers, networks, and cybersecurity while learning from a supportive team?

Packet Digital is looking for a Systems Administrator Intern who's excited to learn, problem‑solve, and grow their IT skills. You don't need to know everything - we're looking for someone who's motivated, reliable, and eager to dive in.

This internship is a great fit if you're studying IT, computer science, or cybersecurity (or just really into tech) and want real‑world experience that actually matters.

What You'll Do

You'll work alongside our IT team and help keep things running smoothly. Some of the things you'll get exposure to include:

  • Helping manage and monitor Windows and Linux servers
  • Setting up user accounts, permissions, and basic access controls
  • Assisting with Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and other everyday IT tools
  • Supporting network monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Learning about cybersecurity best practices and compliance efforts (like CMMC)
  • Helping deploy laptops and IT equipment for employees
  • Creating and updating IT documentation so things stay organized
  • Jumping in on other IT projects as you learn more

This role is all about learning by doing, with guidance and mentorship along the way.

What We're Looking For

You don't need years of experience - just a solid foundation and a willingness to learn.

You'll do well if you:

  • Have basic knowledge of Windows or Linux
  • Understand (or want to learn) networking basics like IPs, DNS, and DHCP
  • Are interested in cybersecurity and IT infrastructure
  • Enjoy problem‑solving and figuring things out
  • Can communicate clearly and document what you learn
  • Show up curious, dependable, and ready to learn

Bonus points (but not required):

  • You're pursuing or recently completed a degree in IT, Computer Science, or Cybersecurity
  • You've played around with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure
  • You've had a help desk job, class project, or previous internship
  • You've done any scripting, automation, or database work

Why Packet Digital?

  • Real hands‑on experience (not just busy work)
  • Supportive, collaborative team environment
  • Opportunity to build skills that translate directly to a full‑time IT career
  • Exposure to enterprise systems, security, and compliance
  • A place where asking questions and learning is encouraged

The Details

  • On‑site internship at Packet Digital
  • Collaborative, inclusive work environment
  • Great opportunity for students or early‑career professionals
