About the Role:
The Medical Assistant Float plays a critical role in supporting multiple clinical teams by providing flexible and comprehensive assistance across various healthcare settings. This position ensures seamless patient care by adapting quickly to different departments' needs, managing administrative and clinical tasks efficiently. The Medical Assistant Float is responsible for facilitating smooth patient flow, maintaining accurate electronic health records, and coordinating communication between patients, providers, and insurance entities. By taking initiative and adhering to safety procedures, this role helps uphold high standards of care and operational excellence. Ultimately, the Medical Assistant Float contributes to an enhanced patient experience and supports the healthcare facility's overall mission of delivering quality health services.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) is highly desirable.
- Proven experience working with electronic health records (EHR) systems in a clinical setting.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, safety procedures, and healthcare administrative processes.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to take initiative in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist healthcare providers by preparing patients for examinations and procedures across multiple departments as needed.
- Manage patient documentation accurately within electronic health records systems to ensure compliance and data integrity.
- Coordinate prior authorizations, referrals, and prescription processes by communicating effectively with insurance companies and pharmacies.
- Demonstrate excellent telephone etiquette by handling patient inquiries, scheduling appointments, and providing clear information.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols and infection control procedures to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
