ABOUT THE ROLE
Shift Transit is looking for a highly organized and people-focused HR Coordinator to support our fast-paced mobility operations across Toronto. This role plays a key part in supporting seasonal and permanent employees across multiple operational departments, including Bike Share Toronto operations, field teams, maintenance, dispatch, and support staff.
The HR Coordinator will support recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, payroll coordination, compliance, and day-to-day HR operations in a 24/7 operational environment. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic workplace, enjoys multitasking, and is comfortable balancing administrative responsibilities with employee support.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate recruitment activities for seasonal and permanent positions
- Schedule interviews, phone screenings, hiring events, and onboarding sessions
- Assist with job postings on platforms such as Indeed and internal recruitment channels
- Support high-volume hiring during peak operational seasons
- Coordinate onboarding for new hires and returning seasonal employees
- Prepare employment agreements, onboarding packages, and policy acknowledgements
- Ensure employee records are properly maintained in HR systems such as BambooHR
- Support managers and supervisors with HR-related processes and employee administration
- Help improve and streamline HR processes in a fast-growing operational environment
- Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive employee information
- Support seasonal workforce planning and operational staffing needs
QUALIFICATIONS
- Post secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- Previous HR, recruitment, or administrative experience considered an asset
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, operational environment with changing priorities
- Ability to adapt and think critically.
- Must possess a valid class G or G2 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
- Tech-savvy and enjoys working with interactive technology.
- Must be willing to work at flexible hours, varied schedule of days, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as needed.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and ability to learn and master new software quickly.
- Maintain high confidentiality with sensitive data
- Able to travel throughout the city (transit or company vehicle) up to 50% of the time
- Strong organizational and communication skills to adjust in a fast-paced environment.
- A passion for and experience in the mobility and transportation industry will be considered an asset.
