Part-time English as a Second Language Instructor

The 32BJ Training Fund is seeking qualified candidates for part-time English as a Second Language instructors for in-person classes taught in the Boston Metropolitan area.

 

About us:

SEIU 32BJ is a service union that represents cleaners, maintenance workers, service staff, and security officers in the Boston area and nine other states on the East Coast. Our mission is to educate every member so that they have the tools they need to meet the challenges of a changing industry.

 

Who we’re looking for:

  • Creative, dynamic teachers with good interpersonal skills who enjoy working in diverse linguistic and cultural settings.
  • Teachers who are looking to empower workers through industry skills education.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, adapt, and implement lesson plans aligned to the program curriculum and incorporate the provided educational materials.
  • Teach English conversation skills through a student-centered teaching approach.
  • Maintain and submit records of attendance.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with supervisor.
  • Participate in relevant professional development activities, as available.

 

Qualifications:

  • MA in TESOL, TESL, TEFL, or CELTA
  • Minimum of 4 years teaching experience
  • Proficient English speakers with strong knowledge of English and language use.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with students from a variety of linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to use digital platforms to instruct, communicate, and record program data.

 

COVID-19 Considerations

  • Record of completed COVID-19 vaccine or confirmed medical/religious exemption required.
  • Compliance with current COVID-19 protocols of the organization.

 

Classes Offered

  • Saturdays, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm, beginning September 2025 through June 2026.
  • Opportunities to teach at other locations in the Boston area possible
