Position Vacancy: Halal Blesser

Reports to: Harvest Supervisor

 

Fort McCoy Meat has an opportunity for a Halal Blesser to join their team! Fort McCoy Meat is a meat packing facility located in Fort McCoy, FL. We harvest (kill) and fabricate (debone, cut, and package) cattle.

 

Position Summary: This position requires this person to safely and properly perform the Halal process of blessing in accordance with the process of Halal, the company's guidelines for this position, as well as USDA rules, regulations, and requirements.

Position Responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate must be a practicing Muslim.
  • Must be present on the slaughter lines whenever Halal slaughter takes place.
  • Halal blessers shall only be permitted to be individuals that have been pre-approved by Halal Transactions Inc. (HTO)
  • Trained in Safety Requirements of the plant.
  • Will be trained by Halal Transactions, Inc. (HTO)
  • Verify that the animal has been properly stunned in accordance with the company's guidelines, as well as USDA rules, regulations and requirements.
  • Notify supervisors of problems that are not resolvable.

Minimum Experience/Education Requirements:

HS diploma or its equivalent OR one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Employees in this position must be of Muslim Heritage and of the required age.
  • Demonstrated ability to pay attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and follow up.
  • Basic knowledge of materials & production processes.
  • Well organized with the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work in various temperatures.
  • Sound judgment, problem solving and process thinking skills.
  • Basic understanding of FM Meat Products GMPs, HACCP and USDA regulations for this position.
  • Ability to work early hours.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to work in extreme temperatures, humidity and witness (50 to 90 degrees)
  • Must be able to work with heights (2ft to 3ft platform)
