Location: Transportation Shop
Department: Transportation
Reports To: Shop Supervisor or Transportation Supervisor
Employment Type: Part Time


Job Summary:


The Bus/Car Washer is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the school district's fleet, including school buses, vans, and staff vehicles. This role ensures vehicles are cleaned and sanitized regularly to support student safety and uphold the district’s standards of care and presentation.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Wash and clean the exterior and interior of school buses, vans, and other district vehicles.

  • Use cleaning equipment such as power washers, brushes, vacuums, and cleaning solutions safely and effectively.

  • Sanitize high-contact surfaces in vehicles as needed.

  • Perform visual inspections of vehicle cleanliness and report any vehicle damage or maintenance issues to supervisors.

  • Maintain the cleanliness of the wash bay and the surrounding work area.

  • Properly dispose of waste materials and follow environmental and safety regulations.

  • Assist with light shop duties when assigned (e.g., sweeping, organizing supplies).

  • Adhere to all district safety policies and procedures.


Qualifications:



  • Ability to work independently and follow verbal and written instructions.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.

  • Prior experience in vehicle washing/detailing is a plus.


Work Environment:



  • Work is performed outdoors and in a vehicle wash bay, often in varying weather conditions.

  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals, water, and vehicle exhaust is common.

  • Safety gear and training will be provided.
