JOB SUMMARY
Janitorial maintenance is responsible for maintaining the office and shop facility in clean and orderly condition.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and vacuums assigned areas to ensure cleanliness.
- Promptly cleans all spills or noticeable grease spots on the plant floor to prevent potential slips or falls.
- Cleans floors, toilets, and countertops in men's and women's bathrooms.
- Cleans floors and tables in vending and break areas on a daily basis.
- Empties all trash and garbage recycle containers.
- Replaces all necessary janitorial equipment or supplies in bathrooms and break areas as required.
- Maintains the location and stock of all janitorial supplies, identifying shortages for timely replenishment.
- Regularly checks and maintains safety glasses, eyeglass wash stations, eye wash bottle stations, and first aid cabinets by refilling items as needed.
- Maintains building facilities by performing minor and routine painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, and other related maintenance activities as required by the department supervisor.
- Removes snow, salts icy areas as needed, and cleans any debris from sidewalks.
- Maintains the outside of the facility by picking up garbage and watering flowers.
- Performs any additional duties or responsibilities as assigned.
- Cleans out machines, removes chips, adds coolant and fluids to machines.
- Cleans filters on all machinery weekly.
REQUIRED SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES
- Ability to recognize and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to communicate effectively with department supervisor.
- Ability to comprehend and follow simple oral and written instructions from department supervisor.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school or GED equivalent preferred.
- Previous janitorial or general labor experience required in a maintenance environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Regularly required to walk or stand the duration of 8–10-hour shift daily.
- Regularly required to bend, reach or kneel.
- Regularly may lift, push or pull up to 15 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Exposed to generally loud noise level in the work environment, in which hearing protection is required.
