Position:Temporary Elections Assistant: Part-Time
Location: Pine County Courthouse
Union:Non-Union
Status: Temporary, PT, Non-Exempt

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
During the August 11, 2026 and November 3, 2026 elections assist with:

  • Processing absentee/early voting requests by mail, in person, and online.
  • Preparing and mailing ballots to all mail ballot jurisdictions and absentee voters.
  • Assisting absentee and mail ballot voters with in-person voting
  • Answering questions regarding absentee and mail voting and voter registration in person and over the telephone
  • Testing and preparing election equipment for precinct use and assists with disbursing election equipment and supplies to election administrators.
  • Serving as a certified election judge on the UOCAVA and Regular Ballot Boards.

 

OTHER ESSENTIAL INFORMATION:

  • Weekly hours of the position will vary from 16-30 hours per week depending on workload. 
  • Hours are flexible Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm, with the following required exceptions:
    • Saturday, October 31, 2026 | 9:00am - 3:00pm
    • Sunday, November 1, 2026 | 9:00am - 3:00pm 
    • Tuesday, November 3, 2026 | until approximately 9:00pm

 

Requirements

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must be registered to vote in Minnesota, or eligible to register to vote in Minnesota
  • Selected candidate will be required to complete training to become a certified election judge 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work frequently standing, walking, sitting, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms and repetitive motions and occasionally requires pushing or pulling and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; observing general surroundings and activities; work regularly requires expose to outdoor weather conditions and occasionally requires working in high, precarious places and exposure to fumes or airborne particles; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).

This is a part-time temporary position. Benefits are limited. Position is not eligible for health, dental, or vision insurance. PERA retirement enrollment is subject to eligibility thresholds based on hours and earnings.
